In Peru, in addition to the COVID-19 vaccine, no other vaccines are mandatory, but we recommend protection against typhoid fever, tetanus, polio and hepatitis A. Consult your travel clinic for the latest advice on malaria, dengue fever and Zika virus. Fourteen days in total since we pick you up at your hotel in the city of Lima until we drop you off at the same place; you will have the assistance of a tour leader at all times.

Can I do this trek in less time, are there shorter programs of less days?

This ten-day Classic Huayhuash is not recommended to do it in less time because of the great amount of slope that this route has, in addition to the altitude of the sections are over 4000m on average, and many of them reaching up to 5000m; reducing the time would be to go faster, enjoy less of the landscape and be prone to physical injuries.
If you do not have much vacation time then you can also choose our five and seven day tours which cover shorter sections of this wonderful route.

I see that other agencies have different programming with some different routes and times for this Classic Huayhuash?

This route called “Classic Huayhuash” is a compendium of trails stipulated by the experience of many years of local people and experts in Andean routes, which highlights the beauty of the most emblematic places throughout the Cordillera Huayhuash; however, each agency may differ places of provisioning (camps) for organizational reasons.
We also join this classic route, so we take the most stable trails and roads with the most extraordinary views prioritizing your safety, our campsites are always in the most accessible and safe places.

What is the difficulty level of this trek?

This trekking is one of the most demanding, due to the distance and elevation gain (see technical sheet), so we consider it as an advanced trekking (level 4).
The whole of this trek is above 3500m at its lowest level, reaching 5000m at its highest level, which means that you must be used to trekking in this climate.

How fit should I be to do this trek?

This is a very challenging trek and should only be done by people in excellent physical condition and with previous experience in mountain trekking above 4000masl.
The Huayhuash Circuit is located in a remote and unforgiving part of the Peruvian Andes, there is no access to basic services, everything is transported by our organization, the few towns that exist on the route have almost no inhabitants; literally on the route there is only nature.
