    Overview

Choquequirao and Machu Picchu are the largest and best preserved Inca archaeological fortresses that exist in all of South America; there is a connection through roads and trails that connects both citadels; this is one of the most challenging and wonderful hikes, so much so that in 2015 National Geographic chose it as one of the most beautiful routes in the world.
The fortress of Machu Picchu is known worldwide, but what few know is that the Incas also built another very similar and equally impressive citadel, of which so far only less than 50% has been discovered and receives a very low number of visitors.
One of the reasons why few people visit Choquequirao is because to get to this citadel you have to walk 13 miles (21km) on foot, which implies descending from 9,186 ft (2800m) to 3,937 ft (1200m) meters above sea level , and then going up again to 10,499 ft (3200m), a real challenge!.

Our camping facilities have all the necessary requirements for you to enjoy the best comfort and tranquility; in addition to your tent (personal or shared if you come with friends), we provide you with a separate space to consume your food that also serves as a kitchen.

What will I eat along the way?

When you confirm your participation in this adventure, we will contact you to explain us about your food preferences, so we will provide the necessary supplies for the entire trekking; all food is fresh, it is prepared in the same camps, and in places where there is a population we always prefer to consume local products.
Please note that when you are in the cities of Lima and Cusco the food will be on your own, we do this so that you can explore the flavors of your preference, in fact, you will always have the advice and recommendation of your tour leader.

Do I need to set up my own tent?

No, we provide you with camping equipment such as mattress, sleeping bag, tent; you won’t even have to worry about setting up your tent, everything will be ready for you when you arrive at each of your campsites.
If you bring a personal tent, you can also use it, we will take care of the transportation.

Can you provide more services that are not included in this tour?

Yes, but it will be important that you coordinate it previously with one of our travel agents, preferably before hiring the tour to configure your trip in the best way.
